Leather sofas are timeless, durable classics that develop a beautiful patina over time. They come in many different styles, from the modern, sleek leather sofa with straight lines to inviting chesterfield sofas with delightful vintage character.

Which leather sofa suits you?

Our leather sofas come in different models, and the leather itself has various colors and textures. When choosing a sofa, it’s good to consider how you’ll use it. Also, think about where it will be placed and what expression you want in the room. Measure the space where the sofa will be placed as well. The overall dimensions of the furniture are most important, but seat depth, width of armrests, and other dimensions also make quite a difference in how the sofa feels and looks. If you are tall, you might need, for example, a longer seat depth for the sofa to feel comfortable. Take a look at the sofa you’ve had before. What did you like about it? Was there anything you didn’t like? By thinking through the purchase well, you can find a leather sofa to love for a long time.

Leather – a living material

A leather sofa from Artwood is made of the highest quality leather. We use so-called full-grain leather from Italy and South America. The leather itself is then treated with various techniques to achieve the right appearance and texture.

Espresso and Anthracite are soft semi-aniline leathers of high quality from Italy. They are lightly sanded to achieve a more matte, softer surface.

Pure Dye and Natural Washed are leathers completely without any cover color, known as full-aniline. It’s very soft and supple and has a natural appearance with color variations that give the surface a nice depth. Beautiful and very pleasant against the skin, but also a bit more sensitive to stains.

If you want a soft, beautiful sofa with perfect patina right from the start, choose Vintage Cigar leather. It has been processed to achieve a beautifully aged surface immediately. Treat it a maximum of 2 times a year to maintain the vintage feel.

If you want a leather sofa in really soft leather, then you choose Nubuck. It has been sanded to a matte, smooth surface that feels absolutely wonderful against the skin. Just keep in mind that nubuck is a bit extra sensitive to dirt. Treat the leather with Leather Natural Protection for best results.

Care instructions for your leather sofa

A leather sofa is durable and actually quite easy to maintain. Leather sofas are a good choice if you have pets and/or small children, as they usually withstand a lot of spills and dirt, and fur is also not a problem on a leather sofa. When cleaning, you can also flip the sofa’s cushions and pillows and vacuum the furniture with a soft brush to remove dust and crumbs.

Stains should preferably be wiped away immediately, before they are absorbed by the leather. Use a soft cloth with lukewarm water (note that water should not be used on Nubuck). You can also use a little mild soap or a leather cleaning product. Avoid strong cleaning agents that often do more harm than good.

What can wear on the leather, however, are sharp objects, such as pet claws and metal details on clothes. Be a little extra careful with such things to keep the leather sofa looking good for longer. You can try to gently “rub out” small scratches and abrasions in the leather with a clean finger.

It is also important to moisturize the leather regularly, as dry leather becomes brittle easily. For this reason, leather furniture is best placed away from direct sunlight and the heat of elements.

Clean and care for your leather sofa regularly with Leather clean & protect. The package contains products for both maintenance and care of leather (excluding suede, nubuck, or bycast).

The right accessories make the sofa even more delightful

Feel free to match the leather sofa with other leather furniture. Another sofa perhaps, or a leather armchair? It can also be nice to combine leather furniture with textile furniture. An elegant coffee table or side table and a comfortable ottoman complete the seating group, and a larger rug ties the furniture together as a whole. Feel free to cozy it up with textiles like pillows and a soft throw, it’s both comfortable and stylish.
